Das Sorbische Institut ist eine außeruniversitäre interdisziplinäre Forschungseinrichtung mit etwa 60 Beschäftigten an zwei Standorten (Bautzen und Cottbus). Es erforscht die Sprache, Geschichte und Kultur der Sorben/Wenden in der Ober- und Niederlausitz in Vergangenheit und Gegenwart.
